15 Steps To Becoming A Franchisee With
The Athlete's Foot
®

1. Candidate completes Franchise Application and forwards it to The Athlete's Foot®.
2. Candidates for whom applications are approved will participate in a Phone Interview to discuss real estate, product merchandising, marketing, training and initial investment parameters. It is best for a candidate to have a detailed list of questions prepared for this conversation.
3. Upon successful completion of the Phone Interview, The Athlete's Foot® forwards a Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC) to candidate. The UFOC is a disclosure document that describes The Athlete's Foot® franchise opportunity, including the franchisee's rights and obligations. Among other items, the UFOC also contains a list of existing franchisees within The Athlete's Foot® system, financial information pertaining to our company, (the franchisor), and a sample franchise agreement. All prospective franchisees should review the UFOC with their business advisors.
4. Candidate signs the Acknowledgement of Receipt, (last two pages of UFOC), and returns a signed copy to The Athlete's Foot® in the envelope provided.
5. Candidate reviews Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC) with business advisors.
6. Candidate contacts existing franchisees within The Athlete's Foot® system to learn more about The Athlete's Foot®.
7. Candidate begins to build preliminary business plan.
8. Candidate contacts lenders to discuss requirements and options for financing.
9. Candidate contacts business advisors, attorney and/or accountant to discuss requirements and options for forming a corporate entity if one is not already formed. Franchisees can also operate as sole proprietors.
10. Candidate and Franchise Development Representative from The Athlete's Foot® schedule a Discovery Day at The Athlete's Foot® World Headquarters in Atlanta, GA. During the Discovery Day candidate will meet key management personnel at The Athlete's Foot® and visit existing retail locations.
11. Candidate attends a Discovery Day at The Athlete's Foot® World Headquarters.
12. The Athlete's Foot® Approval Committee reviews candidate's application and notifies candidate of results.
13. If candidate is approved, the candidate and The Athlete's Foot® sign Franchise Agreement and candidate pays Initial Franchise Fee to The Athlete's Foot®.
14. Secure real estate. After executing a franchise agreement, when requested by the franchisee, The Athlete's Foot® offers assistance to franchisees in the following aspects of real estate 1) identifying prospective locations 2) evaluating prospective locations 3) assisting in lease negotiations.
15. Franchisee enrolls in New Owner Training course.
